Alfonso Rodriguez: Supreme Court of Justice This place was made so justice could be ensured to people and it could help government. It’s located in Washington, DC near the Capitol building. It has been working since 1935 and it became America’s congress. This place is the highest judicial body in the US. It has one Chief Justice and eight justices so they never tie voting. Their role is to check the actions of the president and congress. It’s like the final judge in country decisions. It’s like the referee between political parties. It has 16 marble columns at the entrance and above the entrance C. Gilbert engraved the phrase {Equal Justice Under Law}. On the left there’s a female figure called the Contemplation of Justice and on the right a female called, the Guardian or Authority of Law. Main corridor is called the Great Hall. Each side has double rows of monolithic columns that rise to the ceiling. This place is important because of many reasons. They help the whole country by making the right decisions and being fair with no opposing side or fights. Chief Justice William Howard Taft convincing congress to create it for a permanent Supreme Court home. They spent $9,740,000 building it and another $94,000 for the new building. This place is considered as one of the places to visit in Washington DC because of its interesting architecture and its importance in the country. This place calls my attention because nine persons decide for the whole country in important decisions and that not something anyone can get to do. I find interesting that only one of them is the chief and how they dress. I learned the styles that made buildings and how the Supreme Court is one of the most important places in the US because of the job the people inside have. I learned that the justices have a lifetime pact to stay there and they get replaced when they die. I was surprised with how much time they are in charge of being there and how they are more than 20 years in the same job. I think this place is really the most important building in the US besides the white house because without the help of the people that work here there would be no fair rules or opposing party’s would fight and president might do wrong decisions.
